Please help us purchase a vehicle to support our work.

Dear Friends and Supporters of Balibo House Trust,

Many of you know of the fabulous work that our Timor team do in the Balibo Sub-District of Timor Leste, a developing country where 30% of the population lives below the international poverty line of $2.15 per day. This includes 42% of women, who face significant challenges, including gender-based violence, limited access to education and poor economic opportunities.
The Trust has worked to address these challenges by:

  • providing 1,948 dental treatments at our dental clinic and an oral health prevention program to over 17,000 school children through our Timorese and volunteer Australian dental teams.
  • equipping a Women’s Centre where women can sew and sell clothes and curtains to local schools and businesses
  • making Days for Girls Kits for secondary students so that young women can attend school without disruption to their education
  • installing 6 Skyhydants in villages to purify water and improve water security
  • providing English Language classes to students that assist with employment in tourism, hospitality and government
  • delivering Rotary donated desks and chairs to district schools
  • creating 15 jobs in hospitality at our social enterprise, the Balibo Fort Hotel.
  • creating 5 jobs in tourism for our locally trained Balibo Trail Guides

Our expanded programs require us to transport staff and equipment around the district. We are fundraising to purchase another vehicle so our staff teams can run our social enterprises, deliver educational equipment to remote schools, provide English classes in other villages and support our dental assistants to visit remote schools.
Please help us reach them. Our goal is to raise a minimum of $28,000.
Here is the GiveNow link to where you can donate. All donations are tax deductible, and you will receive a receipt.
